UPERIO cranes for "The Wings" near the Brussels Airport
UPERIO has been commissioned to supply tower cranes for the innovative construction project "The Wings" in Diegem, Belgium, not far from Brussels Airport. The client is the Belgian construction group Democo, which is carrying out the structural and roofing work for this project managed by real estate investor and developer Ghelamco.
Designed by Brussels-based architecture firm Assar Llox, the ultra-modern building complex will offer around 50,000 m² of office space, hotels, restaurants, fitness facilities and coworking spaces. The groundbreaking concept is the first building project in Belgium to be certified in three categories, earning BREEAM sustainability certification, WELL-Building Institute gold certification for residential health, and also gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
The Wings offers state-of-the-art, sustainable environments that maintain a perfect balance between work and well-being. The building complex is energy self-sufficient, meaning that all energy required by the buildings is generated by the complex itself without using fossil fuels.
UPERIO has delivered and erected five CTT 331 flat-top tower cranes with a maximum jib length of 75 m and lifting capacities of up to 16 t to the site. The cranes will be at The Wings site for 12-14 months.
